Trail is a UK band with some killer pop chops. "Killing Sun" is a song about vampires. Not the spakly-in-the-sun kind; the killed-by-the-sun kind. It's not a song trying to hop on the vampire bandwagon (vampwagon? bandcoffin? glitterati?); its only obliquely about vampires, and actually insprired by the morning after a heavy night of - shall we say? - indulgence. My wife and I independently arrived at the same word to describe our first impression of the song: "Muse-ish." It's simultaneously dark and poppy, with a similar sort of serious-as-a-kitten-on-the-freeway rock attitude.
