But after years of listening to Bob Dylan's "Love and Theft", the second album from his later year trilogy which I find remarkably outstanding ("Time Out Of Mind" and "Modern Times" bookend that trilogy), I feel no choice but to put in his song "Mississippi". There is just a current running through it that makes me want to visit a state that always seems down on its luck like the character who settles down in Mississippi for his love a day too long.
Knockout Chorus:
Well I Got Here Following That Southern Star
I Crossed That River Just To Be Where You Are
Only One Things I Did Wrong
Stayed In Mississippi One Day Too Long
It wouldn't be a trip across America without a Dylan song, so Mr. Robert Zimmerman, you get Mississippi, deservedly so.
