Tim Rhodes: Is He Really a Republican?

Tim Rhodes is one of the Republican candidates in the upcoming run-off between he and Republican State Representative Charles Key for the office of Oklahoma County Court Clerk. But is Tim Rhodes really a Republican?
You could say that he is a Republican because he is officially registered as a Republican.

However?.

According to the Oklahoma County Election Board, Mr. Rhodes did not register himself as a Republican until October 7, 2011.  So he has been ?officially? a Republican for approximately 9 months. Isn?t it a bit convenient that October 7 was 3 days before the eligibility deadline?

Let me explain. Oklahoma State law states that in order to run for office you have to have been registered to vote in the party that you are going to run in at least 6 months prior to the filing deadline. That eligibility deadline was October 10, 2011.

So why is it that a life-long Democrat decided to change his party affiliation just in time to be eligible to run for political office?

Tim Rhodes is no Republican. He is a Democrat. He and his wife still contribute to Democratic causes and to Democratic candidates. Tim Rhodes himself contributed to the campaign of the incumbent Democratic Sheriff, John Whetsel, in January 2012.

Tim Rhodes is the very definition of the term RINO (Republican In Name Only). Tim Rhodes is only a Republican because he saw the tide of politics turning against the Democrats and knew that he could not win political office in Oklahoma County as a Democrat. So he changes his party affiliation just in time to be able to register as a Republican thinking that he would be safe running that way.

Tim Rhodes is not safe. We are on to you Tim!
