With an NFL season on the brink of not being around this fall, station to station decided to bring in the MNF crew of Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski and John Gruden to help introduce some new and noteworthy music for the upcoming month. We do have the draft and the new schedule for the tentative NFL season coming soon. We also can be sure that new music from the Beastie Boys, Okkervil River, Bill Callahan and My Morning Jacket will be available soon, in the next 45 days or so to be exact. Let's hand it over to the guys.

Beastie Boys-"Make Some Noise"
Tirico: Hello everybody and welcome to the April edition of "New and Noteworthy" here on station to station. Along side Ron Jaworski and John Gruden, I'm Mike Tirico. Guys, I tell ya, April felt like a good month with efforts from TV On The Radio, Panda Bear, Foo Fighters, The Kills and Crystal Stilts all getting good press. True the reviewer here at station to station is a bit behind, but you just feel like spring is gonna be the month where some good music is going to spring up and make up for a mediocre beginning of 2011.

Jaws: Absolutely Mike. And when you talk about fresh sounding. Groundbreaking. Always ready to rhyme the rhyme well. You have to be talking about the Beastie Boys.

Tirico: Indeed Jaws, the Beastie Boys have a new album on the way May 3rd called "Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2" and it will be the first album with the guys rhyming those rhymes well in seven years.

Gruden: Hey Mike. I don't know what happened to part one, but let me tell you....these guys know how to commit something to vinyl. Their dedication can be seen on "Make Some Noise" a romp showing the boys styles at their best. I tell ya Jaws. I'm like hot sauce, and I'm getting kind of excited about what these veterans from NYC are gonna bring to the table.

Okkervil River-"Wake And Be Fine"
Tirico: Well if you're not into some fresh hip hop come May, there is an alternative you can venture into with the latest album from alt-country outfit Okkervil River, "I Am Very Far" set to be released on May 10th.

Gruden: I tell ya Mike, this guy, Will Robison Sheff, is like the Matt Hasselbeck of indie rock. He never wavers on decisions and is always solid. When game time comes, you can always depend on a solid effort from Okkervil River.

Jaws: And don't forget John, it's the band's sixth studio album and was primarily produced in Austin which has been a hot bed for a lot of good alt-country hits in the last decade. I'm feeling something good about "I Am Very Far" from this song "Wake And Be Fine". The Neil Young angry years references could be flying. Could be talking EOY material here.

Bill Callahan-"America"
Tirico: We've also got new music from Bill Callahan coming out on April 26th with his new album "My Apocalypse". Jaws, any relation to Leonard Cohen here.

Jaws: Well, I'm not sure if Mr. Callahan is related to the great crooner Cohen, but I tell ya, this thing is getting a lot of buzz right now. A free stream is available of the whole album at this dutch site, but I tell ya John, I love the western influenced spoken word singing with a hodgepodge of different instrumentation. It's a very personal statement from what I hear.

Gruden: Jaws, let me says this. This guy Bill Callahan has created a landscape of what he defines as his own apocalypse like the failed demos he has spread on his bed. I think we're previewing a clip of a song called "America" which has a strange soft-porn guitar...and listen Mike, I think he's talking about David Letterman in Australia and who is that other guy he just said that I missed...

Tirico: I believe that's "Captain" Kris Kristofferson, John. He's referring to icons in armed forces positions.

Gruden: Thanks Mike, Kristofferson would be a captain on my team any day. Interesting stuff here, maybe not for everyone, but I tell ya, Callahan's got his game face on for this one. "My Apocalypse" happened the day Warren Sapp left Tampa Bay.

My Morning Jacket-"Circuital"
Tirico: Our final stop guys takes us to Louisville Ky. and the always fun but unpredictable talent of My Morning Jacket. They have a new album coming out May 31st entitled "Circuital" and we've got the self titled song here. Last time we heard these guys they were singing about peanut butter pudding surprises...

Jaws: I like peanut butter and I like pudding...but together, that's not exactly something I want to taste!

Jaws: But I've got to say, I like what I'm hearing on this first offering, it shows the band playing to their strengths in a seven minute plus epic. Lots of great guitar work and lyrically, it's like recovering an onside kick.

Tirico: Which is always a good thing.

Gruden: I tell you, this guy, Jim James has hair that matches Troy Polamalu's mane. I wouldn't want to mess with him if he was lined up across from me at the line of scrimmage. He's always out there swinging that hair around and singing to the rafters. He doesn't need any coaching from me because the guy has got an A game going on 24-7.

Tirico: Well that about wraps things up here. A poll is in the upper right hand corner of your screen to vote for which release you're anticipating the most. Other notable releases in May include Death Cab For Cutie, Wild Beasts, Moby, Fleet Foxes, Man Man, Kate Bush and a band you might member from your days with the Philadelphia Eagles Jaws, the Cars are back.

Jaws: Hey Mike, Let's Go!

Gruden: I like the nightlife baby. Where have these guys been.

Tirico: Well they're back with their first album in over twenty years.

Jaws: Hey, the way this guy reviews albums on this blog, we'll probably get reviews for these potentially great albums by the end of August! I know Coach Tom Coughlin wouldn't accept his tardiness!

***MORE UNCOMFORTABLE LAUGHTER***

Tirico: Well, one thing's for sure, we probably won't be back doing this again as we'll probably call up our lawyers to prevent us from ever commentating on new music on a haphazard site like this. But it was fun.

Jaws: Absolutely.

Gruden: Hey, I just hope we can get back to announcing some great football this fall. I want to see what tricks coach Chan Gailey has up his sleeves in Buffalo. I tell ya, that guy is a wild card Mike.

Tirico: Indeed he is John. So for Ron Jaworski and John Gruden, I'm Mike Tirico saying so long from station to station's "New and Noteworthy" column.
